Last September, the European Commission has published its 2030 Digital Decade Report. It is the first time such a report takes stock of the EU progress towards digital transformation. It reviews digital policy development but also analyses the gap to be filled by 2030 on four dimensions: skills, infrastructures, government, business.
Here are some interesting facts and data:
- Findings from Eurobarometer 2023 show that three out of four Europeans stress the need for stronger cyber security, better protection of data, better connectivity.
- The EU share of global revenue in the ICT market is falling from 21.8% in 2013 to 11.3% in 2022.
- The development of edge nodes in the EU is at a very early stage with only 3 total commercial deployments of edge computing in Europe in 2022…
- With nearly EUR 7 billion combined, Europe ranks only behind China in public investment in quantum.
