Londres et Paris

In the last century, London and Paris had very different prospects as European capitals. The traditional British model for local government emphasized decentralization and devolution of power to the regions, whereas the French model gave Paris a privileged position, even if there was also a concern to develop the whole Paris Basin. Today, according to Jean-Paul Lacaze after studying the views of experts, new forms of development are under way. The differences between France and Britain in the 20th century as regards town and regional planning are becoming blurred as a result of new trends such as “metropolization” which are producing strong similarities in the way space is used in London and Paris in the future.
